ABOUT

As a qualified Graphic Designer, I have always loved creating and have enjoyed working in this profession for most of my adult life. Recently things took an unexpected turn when I severely broke my left arm in a motorbike accident (yes, I was the rider - so only myself to blame 😅 ) However, with this extra time on my hands (or hand 🤚) while I recover, this has allowed me to pick up the brush again - and thankfully I am right handed!

My attention is often drawn to beautiful things – I love nature and the enormity of its many vibrant colours. My current paintings focus on this subject matter created using acrylics with a variation of brush techniques. Sometimes I like to literally 'splash' out and start a painting by pouring on paint, using brushes and/or pallet knives to create a background of colour. From there, anything is possible depending on what I see! Other creations are a deliberate building up of layers until I achieve a sense of "yes I think it is finished"...

I am looking forward to experimenting with other mediums in the near future as a means of meditation and healing. Having been labelled a ‘dreamer’, I take this title in my stride, which only serves to enhance my escape into a world where brush and paint rule.

Enjoy!

AWARDS

I was awarded First Prize in the Abstract/Contemporary category at the 2016 Stanthorpe Agricultural Society Annual Show for the work entitled “Pieces of You”, and was awarded Highly Commended for the painting “A Rose is still a Rose” in the overall fine art category. Then in 2017, again I was awarded First Prize in the Abstract/Contemporary category in the same competition.
